The Tuesday Ten | Top 10 Photos from 2015

3:00 AM Posted by Stacey , No comments
The Tuesday Ten

This weeks edition of the Tuesday Ten is another recap of 2015. Like last year we are sharing our top 10 favorite photos from this past year!

Oh this was HARD! We had over 250 folders to sift through on my hard drives from 2015. That means a lot of these were picked because of the memories that go along with the photos or session. Congrats if you made it in our top 10 BUT that doesn't mean every session we did isn't amazing on it's own! We love sharing memories, capturing families and smiles for all our clients.

These are in NO particular Order.

1. Vintage Engagement Shoot
This was a fun day. I spent a little over a month planning for this photo shoot with some amazing vendors and other photographers. It turned out awesome and I love the photos. It was really hard to pick just one so check out more from this session on the blog post!  The models we used are awesome people and I'm so excited to photograph their wedding in Feb! Doing free shoots does pay off sometimes, and with these two it's a total win-win!

2. Winter 4x4 Jamboree
I have this secret passion for jeeping, ok maybe it's not so secret because I drive a jeep ha ha BUT We didn't get out as much last year as we'd like to. I sure missed Moab,  St George and all of our groups. This photo was taken in January at the Winter 4x4 Jamboree event in St George of one of our friends Ron Barr going up an incline. Not a super hard line but his rig, the red stone and the sky just make it a perfect picture for me. Check out more from our trip here.

3. Jaxson and Sarah Formals
Oh these two! I had a blast with them for their engagement, formal and wedding sessions! They are such a cute couple, not to mention they are both gorgeous! Their formal session at the Logan Temple was perfect. The sky and weather were spot on and they looked like they just stepped out of a magazine. More of this session here.

4. Hawkes Newborn
This little lady is one of my favorite newborns ever. (It helps that she's my niece). I have tried this pose on many newborns but up until her I had never mastered this... so when she hit it and without photoshop editing I was thrilled! The image on the left is on canvas hanging in my studio. Seriously one of my favorite newborn photos EVER.

5. Berentzen Family
This session stands out in my mind for many reasons. 1. They are beautiful people and make amazing photographs but 2. They were so helpful when I stepped on a Railroad Spike during their session I'll never forget them. (full Story here). I am amazed at how nice and giving some of my clients are like the Berentzen's. I am still thankful to this day it was them with me that day. I got lucky, that's for sure!

6. Sanders Birthstory
This little guy's birthstory was amazing. I was so grateful to share their special day to capture their memories. He is an adorable baby and has an amazing family. His mom did so good  in prepping for their pictures she had all the items she wanted to use to dress him/wrap him and set him on. She's the owner of BATZkids and has some pretty awesome items. I LOVE the milestone blanket and the initial blanket! Totally cute! Check her out.

7. Mike and Cassi Wedding
This wedding at the Linden Barn was amazing, beautiful and FUN! These two are do down to earth, easy going and were a blast to work with.

8. Drake Newborns
Another newborn because I seriously love snuggling these little babies and this lady was no different! She was adorable and such a little "Angel" :)

9. Bransen and Jessica Engagement
These two just tied the knot before Christmas but their engagement session from this fall was beautiful! They are so happy together and I couldn't have had better clients!

10. High Maintenance Dress Up with MaKinlee
Another session I planned. I had to find the perfect chair for this and I did. I love it (and so does my dog Max) and Miss MaKinlee crushed it during this session! More photos here.  It's a vintage look but totally fits little girls. Miss MaKinlee was a beautiful model for me.

Honorable Mentions:

And though I didn't take the two photographs below, they are among my top for this year! I can't thank Endless Photography enough! He was an amazing Engagement and Wedding Photographer. If you don't hire us (Stacey Hansen Photography) I suggest hiring him. :) Check out more from these sessions at the links:

I also thought it was fun to look back on the last 3 years! See the top photos for those years in the links below and notice the change in style, editing and composition. It's amazing the difference practice and time can make on creating a picture.

The Tuesday Ten | Recap of 2015

Recap of 2015!

Wow, I can't believe 2015 is over. It came and went so quickly and all the while we were CRAZY busy! It was a full year of excitement for us both personally and business wise. Here's our recap of the year and all the highlights we want to remember.

1. We got married! We were married Sept 12, 2015 in Fish Haven, ID. It was a beautiful day, gorgeous venue and pretty much the coolest wedding/reception ever. :) Check out photos on our blog post: http://photographybystaceymoss.blogspot.com/2015/09/the-tuesday-ten-our-wedding.html

2. We changed our Business name! We are no longer Photography by Stacey Moss... instead a new logo, new look and new name! Welcome to Stacey Hansen Photography. We were SUPER hesitant to change our business name. We've heard many stories of photographers changing their names and then losing business because people couldn't find them or this or that. BUT we've had a RECORD year even with the change! So, I think it was a good call, plus I love our logo! (Thanks to Pace Made for the design!)
3. Newborns! We did a record number of Newborns this year! Newborns are secretly our favorite :) SHH don't tell! JK, but we really do love seeing babies just days old and all their cuteness. I often get asked how I have the patience for newborns because they really do take a lot of time. Honestly, I don't know, but I love it. If you know me personally you know my patience is often low lol so how I manage to work with so many newborns and love every minute of it is a mystery.. but it's one of my favorite sessions to do. That's why when I said I was taking 2 weeks off for the holidays I ended up only having 4 days off because I fit 3 newborns in last minute! I'm a sucker for those chubby cheeks. **Watch for our Newborn Contest for 2015 babies and see who wins a FREE 1 Year Cake Smash!**

4. Weddings! We also hit a record number of weddings this year! It amazes me that I could be busier than last year and yet I totally was, nearly all year long. We met so many wonderful couples for their engagements, bridals/formals and wedding day this year. Each one holds a special place in our hearts and we often become great friends with our brides. It's fun to watch as their love and family grows after their wedding. And this year we joined in the wedding stress so I knew just how my brides were feeling while planning their weddings. Thanks again to all of our brides and grooms in 2015 for making this a year to remember.

5. Photo Booth! The year the Time Capsule Photo Booth came to life! Oh and we have loved this! We did 5 Christmas Parties, a fundraiser, 2 shows, a Preschool graduation, and about a dozen weddings all in our first 7 months. I'd say that's a win-win! We can't wait to see what happens next year and we have already hired 2 employees to help us run the photo booth since we are always busy! The photo booth was the best idea Andy had, among some amazing others for this business!  Watch for us at the Bridal Fair in January at the Logan Riverwoods Conference Center!

6. Our Tuesday Ten blog posts sort of fell off the radar as I got busier planning our wedding and then this fall being swamped. It is amazing how much time it takes to spend writing blog posts! So I'm curious... did you like the Tuesday Ten blog posts (if I do them lol)? I am thinking of giving discounts, free sessions, or paying for blog posts if people are actually reading them. What do you think?

7. Dance / Sports pictures were added to our portraiture options this year. I have danced since I was 3 years old until about 4 years ago so I was thrilled with Kylie at Rhythm Connection asked me to take their Dance pictures!

8. Themed Minis. This was the first year for our Themed Mini Package and we killed it. 5 sessions a year for $100 was ridiculous pricing but we loved it! Seeing kids for Valentines, Easter, Summer, Halloween and Christmas was a blast!  Next year is a bit different, check it out here.

9. Office Help / Blogging - We also hired two part time assistants to help with office work and blogging this year. It's been awesome not having to worry about blogging this month as those two have done nearly all of my blogging. Working a full time job, running a photography business, running a photo booth business, trying to be a good wife and mom is not an easy job. I've learned this year I need to step way back! Which is what I said last year but then that didn't happen. So, I'm working toward more help, spreading my work load, and actually spending more time at home this year (and not at home in my studio :) ).  Meet my Office Assistants... Shayna and Stephanie. They rock because they are 1. My sisters but 2. Because they support my business so much and send me clients all the time and 3. Because they learn fast and get the job done! Thanks ladies.

10. My Hubby - Last of all, I have to remember who helped me start this journey down the Photography industry and that's this handsome man. He's been my #1 supporter since before I actually bought a camera. He helps me with my studio (and his system rocks), he's built my Show Booth, the photo booth, he second shoots for me when I need him, and he takes up a lot of my slack at home while I'm working. Kira is a pretty darn good supporter too. She loves to help with kids are around and even though I have to tell her to go play sometimes she really is a big help. She doesn't love being in the studio when it's her turn but she often obliges. She is getting so big, is a gorgeous 6 year old and sure has a cute personality. I'm so privileged to call these two my family. I can't think of anyone I'd rather have in my home and in my heart than this duo.
