Trax and Acen | Logan Utah Photographer

3:08 PM Posted by Stacey , No comments
OMGEE! These two little boys are adorable. They remind me why I love being a photographer and I'm so lucky to be given wonderful clients in Cache Valley. Their mom is an amazing lady and I've been privileged to capture some special moments for their family.

Trax is 3 years old. He loves to read books like Curious George, play with animals as well as cars, trucks, and airplanes. He also smiles and laughs a lot. It's kinda contagious. He's pretty darn cute too if you ask me. He got some good genes from his parents. He rocked his 3 year session and had me and him momma laughing pretty good. I had to show off some of his many faces throughout his session.

His little brother is about 6 months old. He was ADORABLE for us. He sat with his stuffed animals perfectly for us. It then took him a minute to warm up but we were able to capture that super cheesy grin of his at least in one photo. His mom says he's usually super happy so I'm glad to have preserved a few of those smiles in his photos.

I had a blast with these two boys. Thanks again Sanders Family!

The Tuesday Ten | Changes for 2015

7:30 AM Posted by Stacey , , No comments
Here's to a new beginning in 2015! We at Photography by Stacey Moss were overwhelmed with gratitude for the number of clients and sessions we had in 2014. I met some seriously INCREDIBLE people whom we will be friends with for many, many more years to come. I was nearly booked non stop ALL YEAR LONG!

I've known for many months I was going to make some changes for 2015. I've been somewhat dreading compiling the list of those changes. I'm not against change but I know many of my clients might be, especially those of price increases. I have learned a valuable lesson in 2014 though. I spend so much time working at Hycomp and with my Photography business either capturing moments/memories or editing, blogging etc that I took for granted what I had in my personal and home life... A family and a home to attend to. Not that I don't LOVE having so many clients and being so busy, but I also missed having more time at home and being with the ones I love. One night this past Christmas / Holiday season I was sitting at home after a full day of work and I just spent the entire evening with Andy and Kira. We visited some neighbors, make cocoa, snuggled in front of the fireplace and watched The Santa Claus. It's moments like that I wish I had more off but throughout the entire year. That sparked some of the changes coming this year in 2015.
So with no more excuses and reasons why, here's this weeks Tuesday Ten - Changes for 2015

1. Price Increases

Yup. I'll just get it over with! Price increases will be in effect as of 1/1/15 on all sessions NOT FULLY PAID FOR. Prices are as follows:

Mini Session Price $75
Full Session Price $150
Newborn Session Price $185
Wedding Prices are also going up:
Package 1 - $1075
Package 2 - $785
Package 3 - $575

*Take advantage of 2014 Prices on our Square Account and use code 2014SALE to save 20% off any session (except weddings) when you pay in full before 1 am on New Years Day 1/1/15.

2014 Prices are:

2. Schedule Limits

One big change will be my availability and scheduling. As stated above, I am hoping to be home more this year. I have a second photographer that will take over some of my sessions for me and who is brilliant and amazing just like I am. :) I will continue to edit all the sessions with my style but a second photographer may be scheduled. If you prefer to have myself as your photographer make sure you state that when booking your session.

I also am NOT going to be doing more than 1 wedding a week. In September I had 3 weddings in 3 days. It was insane. I loved it but was SUPER stressed during that time so I've learned I need to pull back on scheduling that many weddings in a row.

3. Cache Valley Photographers Group

I have been apart of the Cache Valley Photographers club for just over a year and a half. I don't get the opportunity to attend all their events and meetings because they are Wednesdays which is hard on my schedule. But I've volunteered to help out at with some of their Secretary/Membership responsibilities. I'm excited to commit to learning more, socializing with other photographers and helping out a great group of people. The CV PAC is an awesome opportunity for me to help grow and get better as a photographer. One I'm happy to take.

4. Wedding Gifts

I'm SO excited to be providing wedding gifts to all my 2015 Brides. (Some exclusions apply). I can't wait to share some sneak peeks with you. Here's a little more info, but actual sneak peeks will be coming up!

5. Deposits

Deposits will remain at $25 for both mini and standard sessions. I really debated on changing the amount of deposits but I decided $25 is a good base number for both sessions. All Deposits are still subject to 6.6% Tax as well, which I have not been enforcing. A deposit is required for any session. $250 deposit is required for weddings. The big change is I am truly going to enforce requiring a deposit as well as charging TAX on deposits.

6. The Tuesday Ten Blog Posts

I have LOVED this years Tuesday Ten Blog posts I started in June. I believe I've only missed two posts which is actually pretty amazing. This year I already have the schedule for Tuesday Ten Posts out nearly 2 months with guest bloggers at least 2 times a month (for now). I'm super excited about hearing from some local people and what their life entitles or business can provide. BUT I'm also excited to continue some photography related posts as well as personal posts. Here are a few of my Favorite Tuesday Ten Posts from 2014

7. Mini Sessions

Last year I was super excited to offer 4 mini sessions. This year I'll be doing something similar. You can purchase a MINI SESSION PACKAGE which includes 5 mini sessions which are: Valentine's, Easter, Summer, Halloween and Christmas. The package deal is $100 which is buying 4 getting one free as they are all $25. Contact me to learn more about those details!

8. Contact Info

This past year I had a few minor glitches with contacting clients. I'll now require an email and phone number to book a session with me. I will still take clients from Facebook but will ask for phone number and emails as well. This will help both of us.

9. Work Flow

I think over the past 6 months I've made some MAJOR headway on my workflow. I love using LightRoom and feel very comfortable with my post processing work flow. I know have presets I use for every session and am determined to make my clients galleries more consistent.  You'll have peace of mind knowing that all your photos will look similar in style and editing type.

10. Insurance

If you are a fellow photographer, you are probably reading this thinking "She doesn't have insurance?" As Photography by Stacey Moss has turned from a hobby into a business we are trying to quickly stay up to date, follow policies, and practices... this includes insurance. It might not mean much to my clients but it means a lot to me.

11. Referral Program

I decided to add one more change. I implemented my referral program last year and want to use it more! I'll be randomly posting ways clients can earn extra points by playing in fun games, commenting on posts, etc. Watch for them!

The Tuesday Ten | Top 10 Photos from 2014

8:35 AM Posted by Stacey , No comments
This weeks edition of The Tuesday 10 is another recap of 2014. However, This time it's my top 10 favorite photos/sessions from this past year. It was SO HARD to pick these photos. I had roughly 196 folders to go through so I had to pick my favorites based off my memory and a few other things I was looking for. 1. I try to pick photos that were meaningful to me in some way or another. It might have been that I put extra work into this session, had new equipment, tried a new style, went somewhere new, etc. 2. I also try to pick photos that are not my normal all time portrait photographs.

I'm hoping that you enjoy this years top 10 and a few notes/comments about each one. These are in no particular order.

1. Andrews, Texas. Ah - the 18 hour car drive there an 19 hour car drive back. The memories I shared with my sister, nephew and mom on the road trip were amazing. I saw my niece for the first time ever and I was able to spend time with my sister's family at their house for the first time in 2 years. Words can't explain the gratitude I have for memories like those. This picture represents a little of that trip. Everywhere you look in Andrews, and the surrounding areas, you'll find Pump Jacks and water towers. Though I am very fond of my Mountains in here Utah, I recall a few beautiful moments of this small Texas town. Those of which are pictured below.

2. A passion for Dance. This one is a keeper. I have been involved in dance for 28 years. Being a dancer myself and having a very fond passion for this sport kept it on my mind even after I stopped teaching two years ago. I finally missed it enough I had to do a photo shoot with dance somehow. That's when this session came to life. Using the Old Logan Coach Building and Talia as my subject I am thrilled with the results. A flexible and amazing young lady sure helps make this photo one of awe.

3. Sometimes family sessions are just amazing. Other times they are funny and awkward. This family session was a little of EVERYTHING. This little guy was sure giving me his best glare. He was not having his photo taken and that was it. I love how this set of photos looks together. Though he is normally a really happy kid I can't help but LOVE this one.

4. Newborns are one of my favorite sessions. With the edition of new lighting in the studio this year I'm better able to capture newborns or any other subjects in the studio. This is one of the first sessions I had in the studio with the new lights! I am LOVING my Alien Bee light. I highly recommend it for anyone that has an indoor studio. I've taken it on location a few times and with the edition of the battery pack I bought it's a perfect travel light, except I might need to buy a new soft box to tote around. My 60" is quite large and awkward but man, I LOVE it!

5. The Pin Up Model session. OMG. I had a blast with this group and am SO lucky to have amazing help from Heather at HMmakeover, Jade at Beyoutiful, Andy with set up and shop, Brent Hansen with the '55 Bel Air, and the two models Tera and Angie. (And Aaron Gibbons for the Harley) I learned so much from this session but I had a blast at the same time. I can't wait for another car session and have so many ideas to do with it, I'll have a hard time to decide where to start. Watch this coming year for an awesome car/motorcycle shoot! It'll be in the works coming up.

6. This twin newborn session was awesome and a first. I was a little nervous but LOVED working with these two adorable babies. Baby A and Baby B were perfect. I am so happy with how well they posed together! It took a minute to get familiar with posing two little babies together but I can saw I think we nailed it!

7. If you know me on a personal level, you know I love Jeeping. I've had my white Jeep wrangler for not quite 3 years now. We've been to Moab at least a couple of times a year and have been to Easter Jeep Safari every year since. This year we actually went on the runs with the group as the last couple we have just did our own thing and enjoyed window shopping at the vehicles and hanging out at the fairgrounds shopping through the vendors. This year I do have to say it was a blast. I captured this moment at Easter Jeep Safari in April. Hells Revenge is one of my favorite runs. I'm not sure I'd try this one with my jeep but I love to watch others!

8. This one is another special session. It was the first model session I'd done and I loved putting it together. Stacey from Chartier Floral did an amazing job on the bouquet, the hair piece is from Meghan at Fierce & Free, and the dress is my sister Shayna's. My mom helped me out on this session. Carmen was great to work with and I loved how this spring Bridal look turned out.

9. Speaking of Bridal Sessions. I LOVED this one of Ally at Tony Grove. The vast green scenery makes her just pop in all white. She was asking for a grove of aspen trees and I think we found a little of that at Tony Grove. BUT - this one was my favorite from her session. I have it printed in a 16x20 in my studio. I just love the colors and Ally is a gorgeous bride. I wish I could have attended her wedding, however we were having fun in 100 degree weather at Disneyland.

10. Another fun session in Moab Utah. These two and their engagement pictures were on the top of the slick rock on Hells Revenge. We met Stef and JT at a jeeping event last year in Colorado and have become good friends with them. We get to see and hang out with them at most of the jeeping events we go to as they work for Nemesis Industries. Actually, these were taken just moments before the photo above of the buggy at Easter Jeep Safari in April.

We had some amazing sessions, trips, and experiences this year. Thanks so much to all our clients, family and friends.
I hope your Christmas is a spectacular one.
Happy Holidays from Photography by Stacey Moss.
