Throw back Thursday | My Biggest Supporters

This Throw Back Thursday post is a special one. I have these AMAZING parents. They support me in literally everything I do, whether I fail or succeed, they are there. My mom is always helping me be my best and is there every time I need her and my dad is just this awesome kindred spirit who can make anything I ask him to, including some amazing newborn props. I wouldn't be where I am today without them.
Thanks Mom and Dad, your the best.

Throw Back Thursday | Newborn Photographer

Wow. This session brings back memories. This was a fun session and I learned A LOT! And I mean, a lot. This was my first newborn session and Kaisley was so good for me. I didn't have a set of indoor lights at the time so we used some make shift lights and it worked out great. This was also my first time doing any real editing for indoor sessions and again I learned more than I could have expected.

I love newborns and I think I've come along ways! I have 3 birth story's and 5 newborn sessions already booked for 2014 so I'm super excited. Since this session I've added a vast collection of props, wraps, backdrops, lights and new camera equipment for my use. However, it's because of clients like Angela that helped me get started, trusted me with their newborn and had faith that I'd produce some great photos for their little girl. Was I perfect, by far No. Am I perfect today, still no. But in my eyes no photographer is perfect, they all have their own skills, knowledge, editing style and still have so much to learn. I'm so appreciative of all my clients for putting your memories in my camera.

Stylized Model Session | Northern Utah Wedding Photographer

Cache Valley Wedding Photographer
I have been wanting and trying to plan a bridal model session for months! I originally wanted to do an outdoor winter bridal session and had a vision in my head. Things didn't quite work out that way and got pushed back until this past weekend. However, I am in love with these photos. I think the session turned out much better in the early spring than it would have in the snow so I'm thrilled to share these photos with you!

Here's a little about the session.
  1. I met Carmen through my sister in law Maria who works with Carmen. I asked her to do this session months ago and was so excited to work with her.
  2. I needed a beautiful wedding dress to showcase and my sister just happened to still have her's. I asked if she'd let me borrow it and to my luck it fit Carmen perfectly. Thanks Shayna!
  3. Next on my list was a Flower Crown! I had seen a few of these and was excited to incorporate one into this session. I saw a post on FiercenFree.com about Meghan making flower crowns. I knew Meghan from high school and thought I'd ask. She was so nice and willing to help out. She made the crown and shipped it to me in no time. Because of the push back of the session I actually had it for a few weeks at my house, patiently sitting in a box waiting to be worn. Thanks again Meghan from Fierce and Free! Find her on Facebook here
  4. Next up I needed a Hair Stylist and Make Up Artist. My original stylist fell through and Carmen said she'd be fine to do her own hair and make up. I agree, it looked great. Thanks again Carmen.
  5. The last and final touch was the bouquet. I had some colors and a few sample bouquets in mind that I wanted to combined for this session. I posted on my Facebook page for a florist and thanks to a client of mine I was put in touch with Stacey at Chartier Floral and Gifts. Stacey is out of Hill Air Force Base in the Layton Utah area. She put together this gorgeous bouquet in no time. Thanks for helping me out Stacey!
  6. Location: I took Carmen to Spring Hollow in Logan Canyon. The stream, waterfall and surrounding trees made for the perfect early spring backdrop. Though the trees aren't yet blooming and most of the foliage is not growing yet the area was beautiful and really made Carmen and the white dress stand out.
  7. Last thanks is to my mom. She joined in on the session and helped me out!
Together, we made this photo shoot happen. Thanks again!
I'm so in love with these.  Enjoy!

Smith Family | Cache Valley Utah Photographer

I just love doing photos of kids. This cute family has 10 month old Twins and let me say they are adorable BUT they do keep their mom busy!

Mom and Dad both were awesome at getting their attention. Dad is surrounded by 4 beautiful girls, he's a very lucky man. Thanks again Tawny!

A True Passion for Dance | Northern Utah Photographer

A have a serious passion for photography. I've been a photographer literally since I could hold a camera. I was the one who took so many pictures as a child my mom was most likely excited about digital cameras because she wouldn't have to print every picture. I love the essence of photography and being able to capture a moment in time. I love sharing that passion with others. It makes me so happy and excited when I get to upload photos from a session and browse through them to pick my favorites. (I usually upload photos RIGHT after a session because I'm that excited about it).

But, photography hasn't been my only passion. That's where DANCE comes in. I've been a dancer since I was three years old (That's 27 years... yup, I'm the big 3-0). I have been dancing, teaching dance, choreographing routines, and living dance for many, many years. I've had this vision of capturing dance movement in time and seeing the extensions, leaps, jumps, toe shoes, and flexibility from a dancer in front of my lens ever since I got my DSLR. I would take my camera to all our competitions and get group shots and individuals all the time, but that never really filled this vision I've had. This year I'm not teaching dance and I truly miss it, so much so that it was time make that vision come to life.

I got in touch with Talia (a former Dance student of mine) and asked if she'd model for me. She's an AMAZINGLY talented young lady. She's a freshmen this year. Yup, that's right a FRESHMEN! She's got some serious abilities on the dance floor, being flexible is just one of them. She's got this keen sense of picking up a routine, fitting the style, and learning tricks like they are as easy as walking. Hands down she is one dancer I truly look up to and am proud of all the accomplishments she's made. I have all faith that she will go far with her dance career if she wants to. I was so thrilled to finally put this session into motion and was ecstatic when she said yes. Originally, I had wanted to do this outside in the snow... but with the rain recently I opted for the Old Logan Coach Building and I think it fits the style I was going for to a T. I couldn't have planned it any better.

Thanks Talia, you were awesome!
Warning - This may be a bit of a picture overload :) I couldn't decide which ones I liked the best!

Look how much height she gets in her leaps! Sweet.
